The first round of the Irish Cross-country Mountain Bike National Point Series took place at Davagh Forest, Co. Tyrone, on Sunday 19 May 2019. Course designers from the host club, Carn Wheelers, are well used to the venue but had to do some amendments this year due to construction of the Dark Sky Observatory due to open in spring 2020. This had a direct impact on the original start/finish area as well as car parking. The new start/finish was moved to one of the tarmac roads a short distance away. Riders gathered at the venue from early morning from all over Ireland. The day remained largely dry, but overcast with light rain on occasion.(more…)

Following on from Round 1 (Carn Wheelers) we head to Killarney for the second round of the Irish XC NPS.
The course presents plenty of challenges with a good mix of fast flowy sections & rooty technical bits which Torc is famous for in Killarney.With categories from Under 6 right though to Senior 1 Men and Women, there really is something for everyone.

Following on from round 1 (Carn Wheelers) and round 2 (Killarney CC) of the 2019 Irish XC NPS brings the series back to Ticknock. The course is running sweet and takes in a wide mix of terrain, with leg-burning climbs, some wide open, some techy, and a wide variety of smile-inducing descending.
With categories from Under 6 right though to Senior 1 Men and Women, there really is something for everyone. Catering and DJ on site. Bring the family, it should be a great day.

With the original first round cancelled, the Carn Wheelers’ event at Davagh Forest on Sunday 19 May will be the new first round of the series. Registration opens on Sunday 5 May 2019 at 8 pm for this round. For gridding purposes, riders will be called forward based on the time of registration.
